???Explorer SE Pro v Safari as a jump from Teknetics Delta 4000????

I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some positive and negative responses to my desire to make a large move up to the Explorer SE Pro or "quaint" Safari. I know a couple of fellas in my area that have the E-trac's, and swear by them, but these guys are virtually full timers, whereas I'm a weekender at best. History here is my Delta 4000 is a great machine, I've found a lot of stuff, but I'm really missing deeper silver and gold and I know it. Just today I pulled up a 1917 wheat in a historic, "Holy crap another pull tab!", park area at 8". Now you guys know that if there's a 1917 wheat out there, there's silver. So far that site has only produced a 1964 Rosie at 4" with an 8" concentric. It's a heavily used park that predates 1917 by 30 years and the Park Rangers and maintenance staff tell me it's not heavily detected by "permitted" detectorist's, such as I am.

So, the rest of the story goes like this....... It is not the "only" related park I find wheat cents at!!! There are 50,000 acres of this park of which I have only glanced about 3 acres.

Now if I can have a machine that can be tuned in "trashy" areas, that won't take up too much of my limited time deciphering, that has good depth and discrimination as well as masking and true target negation and discrimination, which of the Mine Labs would you choose for a newbie FBS detectorist?????

In my early 60's, I probably have a good 20 years left to wait for an answer, but, for fates' sake, the sooner the better, as I am set on "hot and ready" to buy a new machine and all of your responses will be well appreciated.

Thanks to all for your input. There will be output!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont believe there is a better machine that gives you that distinct sound of silver like the Explorers do. There is a learning curve that you will have to go thru, but its the better machine. Down side.... phased out so you can expect some time in the future like the XS ML wont repair them. So if i were going to buy..... id get the Explorer, but id buy a used one. You can get them at a reasonable price and you wont have as much invested. Rarely do you have a problem with these machines.

Thanks Dew. I was suspecting that the Explorer SE was going in that direction. When they announced the CTX3030 I figured they're probably timing in newer models over the next few years. If I were them I'd stay with the CTX framework, and battery, and notch it down, say no GPS etc... I have been looking at ebay and Kellyco for used ones. I've already learned quite a bit from reading everyone's posts here. But as they say, there's nothing like hands on experience.

Thanks again.

I had a Delta 2 years ago. Thought it was a good machine. Went to an AT Pro. Thought it was a great machine. The Explorer SE Pro I have now is unreal. Once you get through the learning curve. THis machine is incredible. I would suggest the Explorer. There are a few used ones out there every now and then.
