A dealer friend of mine got one in yesterday and we put it together.---Be careful how you tighten that lightweight coil to the shaft-those "ears" look pretty fragile to me.---I still don't like the looks of all those "hollowed out" areas on the bottom of the coil. Dirt build up problem?? I sure hope I'm wrong on that!----As I swung the detector-it did make the Explorer have MUCH better balance-due to the coil being a little lighter (18.6oz versus 21oz Slimline), but mostly because of the coil being center mounted.---I was REALLY impressed with the improved balance that coil gives the Explorer.-------JMO, Del

Del, I had the same reaction as you, the coil feels great alright,
and it has great performance going by the few posts I've seen.:)

I figure you would never want to step on it ! ~ Maybe it's tougher than we think...

I have one on my want list !

Swinging one, I noticed where the hollowed points come to a tight V on the coils center it does have a tendency to grab the grass a little bit, but not enough to be a problem. I imagine in really long grass it might be a pain.

What do you think now after a week or so with it?
