Explorer vs.PI on the beach?

Can anyone give me a realistic comparison of an Explorer/Quattro versus a PI machine like a White's PI Pro on wet sand,I get good depth with a Quattro but if a PI machine like the White's was several inches deeper I would purchase it,any advise would help, thanks.

I can only attest to my own experience. I have an Exp. II with which I have retrieved small objects at 15 - 18" on N.J. beaches. I know that PI machines go deep, and would say that they would yield the same results without the ability to discriminate. I also think that the geographical location of the beach (type of sand, iron content, etc.) will also be a factor. What works well in New England may not work as well further south.

I can only tel you what a dealer once told told me about this very question and he said that the explorer's do not go as deep as a pulse induction on the beach. Having said that i once read in a magazine that the explorer's are fairly close to the depth of a pi on the beach to within 1 -2 inches on a coin sized object.

Have an EX II and a HeadHunter PI... Prefer using the PI on wet beach and in the water. It's waterproof and extremely light. Downside, you dig absolutely everything, but you get the deep targets. I would hesitate to take my expensive Minelab in the water just because a little moisture could do a lot of damage. After I use the PI at low tide, I then get the EX II and hit the high tide lines where you're going to encounter more junk that you can discrim. Hope this helps. Mike
