Explorer xs,message battery flat on shutdown

My xs will display battery flat, battery to low for reliable operation. When i turn it off, and it wont completely shut down either. I have to pull battery pack out or it will drain them dead. Any ideas as to why this is going on? I have checked the battery springs in side the detector. They look fine. The detector works, it is an annoying problem tho. Batteries are new. I hate to scrap it, it can be fixed cant it?

You sure the batteries don't have a bad cell.
Even new ones do that sometimes.
Had that years ago.
Batteries tested at proper voltage.
Though under load. Detector on.
They went instantly flat.
When batteries are that low the machine gets funky.
Any place near by who rebuilds battery packs.
I went to Bulldog battery repair in Willoughby Ohio.
Had my batteries up graded to 3500 mh over factory 1500 mh.
Contact them.
Have your's tested.
Good Luck.

PS
Hopefully some other guys post or you could search the forum.
There are a couple places in the states and abroad who repair Explorers.

Have you cleaned the contacts ?
Springs and battery tabs ?
I use Peavey guitar contact cleaner.
At any music store.
Spray. Gently rub with a pencil eraser.
Wipe and blow dry.
I believe they'll have canned air.
Low pressure around 10-15 psi on an air compressor would work too.
Will not damage any surfaces.
