Is thear some adjustment i can do, It seems 0n the Explorers the audio is quicker thean the smart find, Im running in fast already,
What else can i do??????? Thank you ,

There might be a quicker display response if you use a smaller coil. This will make the detector see less items under its coil and it might make the display respond a little faster. The only other thing to do would be to upgrade to the Explorer SE if you don't already have one. The display is lightning fast and displays a lot faster than the XS and the 2. Also you could try All-Metal Ferrous Tones which might give you a faster Display since there is no Nulling and you hear everything, but not totally sure on this due to only using Ferrous All-Metal a couple times. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but I think you have limited options here. You should be going by Tone 1st and Display 2nd anyways, so I don't see what the big problem is here. May need to add more info about what you are trying to achieve with the faster Smart Find Screen. Good Luck and HH.

Hi Exeplorer XS, I use a XS I do Lesten for the auido 1st not really a problem, My friend hase a SE N his is slow too????????
How Long have you hunted with a XS????? Thank you

The Display should work faster on the SE than it is. As soon as you get a signal, the Display should have the info on it. Have your friend take his Explorer SE and swing it over a Coin and at the end of the swing, it should have the info registered. If not, I would have to say that the processor isn't as good as it should be. But don't panic! It could be that there is a lot of Iron or Junk in the ground or Mineralization. You may get a better response if you drop the Gain down to 6 or 7 also. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

Like James says the SE is faster than the XS, but it is not instant or display as fast as the audio will. With any of the Explorers the display only will display when the threshold comes back and will display the last signal it sees, not always the last signal you heard. In other words if you hear a good signal and there is a nail or other trash beside it that is disc out it may sound like a good target, but show a trash item as the coil on the last swing may have seen the trash item before the threshold came back. What I find is running the sensitivity in manual and not so high with not so much disc out will speed up the threshold coming back which will speed up the display. Going by audio and when you think you have a good signal just swing over that little area and pull the coil up away from that target seems to ID fairly fast. If too much is disc out it will null more and take longer for the display to come back. Some places I run iron mask wide open or just a little blacked out and ferrous tone so it don't null too much and display will work faster.

Easy on the SE display being lightning fast, because it is not much quicker than the ex 2. All Explorer displays are a great deal slower than their tone responses because they're comparing all 28 frequencies before they ID. To get the SE or any Explorer for that matter to update quicker, you listen for the tones, if it sounds interesting swing over it twice and the screen will update immediately or you can put it in response long on the SE, (audio 1 or 2??) on the older Explorer, and swing really slowly. I mean really slooooowly. The other thing that can be done is to have fast on and deep off, as that will help it to respond quicker as well as not using to much discrimination. Will help it to recover quicker.

Hey Man,

from what I hear the SE has a much better audio to visual response time but I can't confirm that until I get mine next week. like you siad though just go by tones anyways.

Thank you all for your Responses, The Fin Man,

The screen only updates after going through a short null. If you have multiple targets is during a sweep, then the display shows only the last target since a null. If you sweep over a nail and then quickly over a dime, you will hear both targets, but the screen show only nail. This is particularly true if you pass over the nail, then stop to do a coil "wiggle" over the dime. You will hear the dime tone, but the screen continues to show only the nail.

For targets relatively far apart, then you will hear a very short null after each target. The null is so short that you will only notice it if you listen very carefully.

Glenn
