F-19 w/G-2 coil

Has anyone tried the "19" with a G-2 or similar coil? Any plus or minuses besides weight? Any comments are appreciated.

Do you mean the F19 with the Fisher/First Texas 11 DD coil ? That's what I have on mine. It was sold to me with the 11 DD. I've always enjoyed that coil on my F5 so I knew I would like it on the F19 as well. It's not the best coil for really trashy or iron infested sites but it goes deep, pinpoints with precision and covers decent ground. Personally I never thought weight was an issue with that coil. The coil is fairly light compared to a Detech Ultimate or Tornado.

Did you buy it new with the 11"? Mine came with a 5x9 (approx.) The G2 coil is an11" DD. Wait till you hit 80 years. I do everything I can to lighten up but still get good results. Been detecting 43 years. Hey, every ounce counts. Don' know about the Detech or the Tornado so can't comment. Thanks for you thoughts.

I bought it second hand. Still, some places sell it with the 11 DD as an option. I think most people prefer the stock coil that you have and it is lighter than the 11 DD but I don't know if the weight difference is significant. The 5" round coil is probably the lightest of all coils for that detector. It's going to be my next purchase.

I think you'll like the 5". I've used mine a few times but I'm mainly a relic hunter, some woods but mostly open fields when they are not planted. Thanks for your comments on the 11" DD.

The F19 stock 10" D/D elliptical coil works great in high trash areas - fantastic seperation and I did end up buying the F5 11" D/D open elliptical coil for my F19 which I got a little more depth but in high trash areas less seperation and it does add more weight. I bought the F19 for coin and jewelry shooting and has proven it's self just with the stock 10" D/D solid elliptical coil.

Thanks Texas Ed. I'm really not sure if I'll get the 5 DD or the 10 X 5 elliptical. There are a lot of fans of both coils it seems. In really tight places around old foundations I think the round 5" coil would be the only one I could use. There's a lot of branches and fallen trees there too and I'd like to be able to take a look under.
