f-75 dst or plain one with only boost:fisher:

For a better performance F- 75 and one that requires less maintenance, would the f-75 with the plain boost mode do better for the average hunter, than the DST? So the dst has a better faster processor, but seems to be a more prone malfunctioning detector than the plain f-75?? Is this the same route with a T2 detector?Thank you.cjm

Not sure what you mean about malfunctioning units. A few F75's that were sent in for upgrade were reported to have problems, but I think those were ironed out.

By all accounts I have read, boost mode does not add much if any depth. It's designed to give a better signal in cases where the coil can't be kept close to the ground.

Not sure what processor changes are if any with DST. All I know is that you can harness all of the power of the F75 pretty much any time you like even with DST off at the 9.1 setting. I have noted no quirks in operation on my F75 DST Anniversary version. They are sweet running units.

FA (fast audio) on the DST Anniversary model works as Fisher claims with improved iron performance.

Hello C.J.M.

As Jackpine mentioned, there were a few issues with upgraded units. To my knowledge, there is no correlation in "malfunctioning", or required "maintenance" with new DST units.

I also purchased the current F75 gold with DST, and FA process, no problems or complaints.

The F 75 DST with the additional modes is one smooth detector. As a woods and huntier in heavy trash the FA and Boost modes are really nice. Often in the woods one can't always have their coil close to the ground and boost really helps. Not to mention, at least with our city parks, with tight city budgets parks don't get mowed as often as in years past and I find myself having to frequently swing over several inches of tall grass. And, the FA processor is a real boon in heavy trash. Good luck with your decision. HH jim tn

I've owned all the F-75's from the day they came out and never had a malfunctioned one ?

But can say the (Boost Mode) F-75's are good for Stubble / Tall Grass type hunting, where you must keep the coil High while swinging.

For normal type hunting where the coil is to the ground, I never used the Boost Mode.
