F 75 water resistant?

jimmyk

New member
I know the original F 75s weren't resistant to rain, but are the new current SE models rain resistant?

jimmyk in Missouri

Nope

n/t

After a hunt in foot tall weeds and grass got me an Indian Head at about 8 inches I thought man, why do I need any detector besides the F75. Then I remembered why I do. EMI occasionally wipes me out. Sometimes the constant noise and machine gun response overwhelms me. I have been hoping for a new improved Fisher machine. I admit I wanted a CZ but maybe I should be hoping for a super F75 with better EMI shielding and a waterproof or resistant build. Right now, I will tell you to keep your machine under cover. Guess we will have to wait and see what Fisher has in mind with a new offering. I would love to have a hint.

I run the F75 alot, and what I can tell you is that the screen has had plenty of sweat drip down on the screen ( no ill affects so far ) has had drips of of light rain and nothing wrong. Only down side is the factory 11"bi-axle was lost water hunting with the 75 . I'm apparently not alone on that front. But it doesn't happen to everyone . Be warned.

Now if I know there is a chance of rain I take a zip lock sandwich size bag with me and it fits the display perfectly and adds that little saving grace to protect the machine to get under cover if it really starts coming down and is easy to see through also.

What I cannot speak for is dunking the unit under water or leaving it completely exposed in a heavy down poor. I think in those situations it safe to bet your machine will get damaged.

At the last organized relic hunt in VA that I attended,it poured rain on one of the three days. I saw alot of guys with F75/T2s, having wet detector issues. Most of the guys had backup units, and just let the wet ones air dry. All but one worked after the soaking. I was using a CZ21,the rain had no effect...... but the F75s spanked me royally on the dry days!

No it is not, however it would fill a great niche in their product lineup to compete with the new Minelab CTX 3030 and the Garrett AT PRO.
Kind of makes you wonder if there is something around the bend in all these rumors.

That's why I have an AT Pro.... as a back-up because most machines are water-resistant.... NOT waterproof!

I have used the F75 SE for long days in the rain with no serious ill effects other than the meter getting a little fog on the inside. Which went away after sitting dry for awhile. I would say mine is pretty water resistant. That said, I do put the covers on now when it rains.

I think that is going to change over the Winter months.
As I would guess there are some new things on the horizon.

my 11' DD has issues after using it in the lake or river shallows defiantly would not recommend using it near water or a very wet day. Unless of course you get a water-proof cover for your coil. 40.00 or so.
