F/S 10.50 inch coil for EXPLORER series

Here is a 10.5 inch Explorer coil for sale. $250, which includes shipping to CONUS. Probably has 3 hours use if that. GREAT coil for you SE users.

Paypal accepted. HH

Minelab has chosen to discontinue that coil with now only the Slimline version which apparently has some issues for many. I don't think it's greedy to charge $250 for a coil that no dealer has in stock but many want. I wish I would have bought 100 new ones and put them away...an investment like anything else. If someone is willing to give their coil up...Super Bowl tickets?...Look at Nintendo Wii's...We just leased a new GMC Acadia for my wife. This is the hottest crossover SUV in the USA. The dealer would not budge from $700 over dealer invoice since it's in so high demand...I guess the same could be said for gasoline too :) If I had an SE and wanted the Explorer 1000 or 1050 coil which I believe are the same, I'd be happy to pay $250 for that coil to get what I want...after spending $1200 or now even more in 2008 for an SE...JMHO..HH.PEACE

I dont know why your pumping this coil up so much but I hope youve thought about the people your fooling
when they buy into your hype.

Neil, I'm not pumping this coil up or hyping it at all...it's really how you're reading into it. Plain and simple, I personally never liked or used this coil when I had an Explorer II-I felt it was just too heavy and unbalanced to hunt for prolonged periods. All of my 1050 or whatever other coil number is used(Explorer 1000), were always still attached with the factory ties to the inner box. I always used the 8 inch coil. Many Explorer users apparently like this coil the best overall for best performance and depth. I don't this there's any fooling going on, just supply and demand in my humble opinion. Heck, some guys are going so far as buying and new or used EX II just to get the coil, then selling the EX II with the SE Slimline coil so... I would also add that for me, when I personally sell something here or on ebay, it is always perfectly clean, as described and a fair price considering what I paid for it especially considering paypal and shipping fees on here and listing fees, end of auction, and paypal fees on ebay :) I also don't think the Sunray coil is a fair comparison with the 1050 or what ever you want to call it coil in regard to performance or other factors for that matter. I really don't think it should matter to anyone what someone is asking for a coil, detector or whatever. That is between the seller and a potential buyer and what the buyer is looking for and willing to pay to get what they want. The fact is, it's the world we live in today whether we like it or not :cheekkiss: I get pissed everyday about gasoline and grocery prices for that matter since I feel like I'm really getting ripped off...HH

Chris I have the wrong Sunray coil written down, its actually the X12. It really is a fair comparison, 2" difference in the coils is all and the Sunray coil feels lighter although Im not actually sure if it is. Sunray puts there mount more towards the center of the coil which gives it a better balance.
I really wonder how many people actually did side by side comparisons of the two factory explorer coils. Minelab probably did in their developement of the slimline dont you think?
By hype I mean one person say doesnt know how to set up his/her explorer, doesnt readjust the gain or sens correctly and assumes the explorer SEs coils is not as good and sells it off and then others jump on this idea and you know what, a frenzy starts. And really thats all it is. Not long ago you could have had those coils for $100 or less as people were selling them off and putting on lighter coils. Why werent they the great coil then? Hype, plain and simple and honestly I know alot of people cant afford to buy both coils and try them.........thats why I mentioned to please be careful hyping this coil unless you have some sort of proof other than what sales are happening on the forums. And what a small percentage of users it is on the forums so its really not a good representation of what works or doesnt work.
Good advice would be for someone to contact Minelab if they think they are having problems with their slimline coil and see what they say, how to properly set up their explorer.
If youve never tried the Sunray coils (Im guessing since you think the X12 isnt a fair comparison) you should, they work very well......so do the coilteks for that matter. The joeys and wots are super coils.

Neil,

I had a brand new monster WOT from Doc for one of my Explorer II's but never an X-12. It was just not for me at all the old home sites I hunt but I had to try one. I, now as of yesterday, have the CZ 12 inch Sunray-surprisingly light but still a BEAST of a coil compared to the 8 inch I almost always use :) We'll see what happens with it in the Spring. It seems to me the stock 10.5 and WOT are the two larger coils posted about the most by many of the more experienced Explorer users. It would be nice to hear some more about the X-12 from experienced users out there...HH

Chris

No question for me the X12 does a whole lot better and lighter than the EX II or the XS coils, It seem to work better in trashy area over the stock coils, but still should use a smaller coil in trash and the X12 will work better then the older Explorer stock coils.
The WOT coil I tried 3 different ones and for me I like the X12 much better as it was lighter and feel I could do better with the X12.
Now on the new SE with the Slimline coils I feel out of all those I have tried they work great and can even run a higher sensitivity than I could with the older Explorers coils and it is lighter too. I had a guy try my SE with the Slimline coil verses his EX II with the stock coil and he compared signals with both of them and said the SE with the Slimline gave a better signal over his EX II, but what ever the SE seen his EX II did too, but not as great of a signal. Her didn't have time to switch the coils and see what would happen, but the Slimline coils I have seen have been great.
