F/S MD raffle tickets for a good cause

New member
Just ran across this raffle for the Wayne Otto Memorial...some good prizes and for a good cause. There are detectors/or cash prizes on the list for as much as $1000. But I want to see some ticket buyers for this cause, so go to the link below and BUY SOME TICKETS. You can also donate a prize...I did that also, just to see if I can win my own prize. So...go to the link and BUY and donate a prize and we can all exchange prizes and give the Otto family a little $. Also please put some posts up all over about this raffle, and if your in a club, get them in it. :help::help::help:

Minelab :minelab: and Garrett :garrett: have both donated $1000 dollar prizes...when will the other manufacterers step up to the plate?

We wanted to send this update out to those that have
contacted us to donate prizes for the Wayne Otto Raffle.

First, a little background. The raffle was setup out of the
feelings that a number of us had for Wayne Otto who was
truly one of a kind and his wife Teri who many of us have
known for 25+ years.

With that said, we established the raffle and put up the
website. In early November we provided the ability for
people to buy tickets via PayPal. To date, this option has
resulted in the sale of 270 tickets for a total of $216.
Including prize donations that have yet to be added to the
website, the total value of prizes exceeds $5,000. We have
had requests for additional tickets to be sold - and
responded to each request via E-Mail. To date, this is an
additional 670 tickets.

That brings us to a crossroads. The question is "Is it fair
to those that donated the $5,000+ worth of prizes to conduct
a raffle where the proceeds will be less than 10% of the
prize value?" We have held off sending out raffle tickets
until we were able to assess the continued viability of the
raffle. We have made numerous posts and contacted people
trying to increase sales of the tickets.

We are sorry that some of you feel that the money paid in
for tickets has been taken on dishonest grounds. All of the
money collected to-date . . $216 . . . has been maintained
separate and is recorded as to who paid what. If you want a
refund, please let us know and it will be done immediately.

We are still trying to determine what options are available;
i.e., extend the date until the drawing and hope ticket
sales increase in the Spring or refund the money collected
and simply end the raffle. That last option is not what we
would prefer as the cause is one that has true meaning to
Teri and the kids and will let Wayne's legacy live on in the
hobby.

We appreciate your support and if you feel that you would
like the ticket purchase refunded now, please let us know
via E-mail or phone. We will send out tickets if the
continuation is what is desired.

Otherwise we will update you as to what the final direction
is on this project.
