F2 and F4 coil test

bthom

Here a video I just stuck together comparing the F2 and F4 with the various coils available.. not terribly scientific but it does give an idea about what to expect with the respective combinations

Nice well done. Glad to see your F2 misses out the same numbers mine does. 10 inch is slightly better. ps what video camera did you use? well done again

Nice job on the video ....When you were calling out the numbers, it appeared to me that the F2 was actually reading the coins at a further distance .....The fact that both machines were that close leads me to believe that one would be just as well off with an F2 .....I'm a newbie , so I could be wrong ....I do like the fact that the F4 has ground balance however ...Jim

Actually The F2 and F4 are built on the same board. For a cheap VDI coinshooter how can you beat the F2?. Sure, if you want to dig deep for all the old coins, there are better machines. For me, sweeping over schools and parks on weekends and picking up coins and the odd ring the F2 is ace (note:NOT ace 250:thumbdown:) More than half the times I go out I can out do my friends White's MXT. I have never had a ground balance problem with the F2. If I up graded it would be to an F5 skipping over the F4. One thing I will say about the F2 is if you are over a coin and it's under 4 inches the F2 will find it and lock onto it. The 4 inch coil is super accurate in trash. it's like using a scalpel. Detecting has a lot to do with actually being over coins. I like the "Caddyshack" analogy "be the coin" I mean ball. PS I'm biased

Nice video bthom. Thanks very much for posting. I ordered both the f2 and f4 with the same coil package you have. Seemed like a no-brainer to buy both for the coils. I think I will pleased with them. I am quite satisfied after watching your air tests on them.

Hi.. thanks for the comments... I use a little Panasonic sdr h20 hard drive camcorder for video, quick and easy. The F2 had brand new batteries, the f4 were a bit used.. that's why in this case the f2 was a tiny bit more snappy, shows the difference batteries make I think. Really the electronics identical. I got the f4 for me because I wanted to be sure I could maximize my chances at the beaches. Having to import them from the States and having no way to test them in our conditions I thought having that little bit more manual control ability might lessen any risk.... really though in 99% of usage they will perform similarly. I do like using the all metal mode in areas where there isn't much metal around... you can really "hear" the ground, were as in disk mode you rely a bit on the machines interpretation... which is still excellent. I'm really pleased we got the two fishers, for the money they are excellent.

Oh yes Alimo88.. I found a Aussie $2 right after finishing the video.. I can say the VDIs are the same as our $1 coins 62 - 64... the first numbers I have really learnt:).. it seems i can walk anywhere on any field at a school around here and come across these numbers.. and if you get a consistent number its always a gold coin. Interestingly we went for a visit to my wifes sisters place yesterday , showed them the fisher and go the "go on find something then" comment.. turned it on walked a meter got a 64 and it was an Aussie $1.. bam just like that.. now I have a buyer for my old cheap chinese detector.

I told you it would be much more fun. The screw bottle top is also around 64 in most cases. Hope you don't find too many, but you will:thumbdown:

Uh yes.. I'm getting pretty conversant with bottle tops, I find their vdi varies with how old and rusty they are.. new ones tend to be 80s older lower and jump around a bit.. Still the gold coins have a have solid 62 64 vdi its not often wrong.

are you saying you can get a bottle top to hit 80 in free air with a round coil. I have never seen a number that high, What type of bottle top is that?

I get an 80 only with the brand new shiny bear bottle caps.... most often sitting on the top in the grass .. this is with the DD coil.. haven't tried with the concentric yet.

It wont be 80 with the round coil more like 35. The DD coils read bottle caps differently

there are some tips on the teknetics site that can help I think they are in the T2 instructions. something like using the back of the coil
