F2 Finds/nickel vs. test garden?

I continue to get some time under my belt with my new F2 - approx 14 hrs in so far. No better place to cut some teeth than the local school yard... 1 hour netted $3.20 in clad and some other assorted junk and a bunch of can slaw.
I was pleasantly surprised that the F2 hit a nickel at 7" - granted I'm digging in mulch - target rang it just where it's supposed to at a repeatable 32, with 2 depth bars. Initial target sound was exceptionally small/narrow - re-enforcing need to overlap swings. Nickel is sitting on the handle of the Lesche...I found this interesting as I have a recently buried nickel (5 mos?) in my test garden (lawn) at a measured 7", which the F2 won't sound on except in all metal (no disc) - yet it rang in loud and clear here, albeit with a very small "pop" signature for the target... Was running only iron disc'ed out and full sensitivity.
