F2: One red cent, and a dime

DiggerMark

New member
Took my F2 ( first outing with it) out today to a local park when I had an hour or so to play with it. Found a penny and a dime and lots of junk.

What I had going on was a LOT of trash in the park, almost every swing at times was a low growl showing iron or pull tab. I was there just a few minutes when I saw tell-tail signs of another digger. Looked to be just hours before me that this park got a look over. I thought oh well might as well stay and see what got missed or not.

The sad part was how "dirty" the holes were left. Please replace the grass and fill in the dirt when you dig. It only makes the sport look better for all of us.

I am brand new at MD"ing and am sure over time me and my F2 will become best of friends and I will learn how it is talking to me. for now I will dig a lot and learn just what is making that sound in particular.

What I like is how quickly it can go from target to target and recovery quickly, the pin point feature and the different tones for the different metals.

I'll let you know more on my next time out.

Welcome to md'ing and to the forum. Mark take it easy, much to learn. It can get very frustrating. I think best way to look at it is to have fun when ever you are out md'ing. You found something and I am sorry to say this but you may have a number of times when you find nothing.
Good work at following another detectorist. When I see signs of another detectorist being there I say, "I wonder how good this guy is?" Sometimes the guy is not good at all and I find a number of coins. Sometimes he is good and I only find a few coins. But you learn where to hunt that he didn't hunt and you see how being careless, not investigating a signal, may have caused him to loose that target and you can use that information in your next hunt. It is always a learning process when md'ing. You learn to hunt better. That is the trick. It is not the guy with the best detector but the guy who knows his detector. Have fun and looking forward to seeing more of your posts... Thanks for reading and Happy Trails.....Z

Thanks and yes it is a learning process. I want to have fun even when it looks like I am not. No matter what I am outdoors, with nature- and I you never know what the next blip in my ear cups is going to be.

Welcome , I had a F-2 for a year I just upgraded to a f-70 , The F-2 will pick up alot of things it takes time to learn what to dig and what to not, pennies depending on the year will come up as zinc or dime sometimes even quarter. sometimes tab comes up as straight nickle but I have had a nickle come up as tab I usally notch out iron makes running alot quieter. but it is a great machine . keep pluggin away it not to hard to learn good luck . I took the F2 out again to another ark today and did much better with it. 8 pennies, 3 dimes, an 1986 Canadian nickle and a brass Century Theater Starcade token from the 1980's???.. All in all a good day for just about 2 hours of digging and talking to a few peeps. Tomorrow I plan on lowering the sens more to slow down the chatter and the dig away,, I am liking my F2

my opinion is its not chatter, it's targets, maybe notch out the first or first and second segments?????

I agree with Alamo, I dont know your settings but drop yours sensitivity to about 70/75 percent then notch out first 2 its easy hit notch ,then plus one time, then notch 3 times and your set happy hunting Stryker
