F4 and rechargeable batteries???

Hi.
What happens if i use NiMH rechargeable batteries???

It should not be a problem, I use them in my F4 and F5 (see below).

Finding them the right size can be a bit of a problem.. the rechargables are sometimes a little bit bigger and fit a bit too tight.

I've never noticed the batteries being a different size and have had no problems finding them.....even Wally World has them. Where did you find some that were not standard size? Brand??

hmm. yes we have limited choice here in New Zealand.. though if you can let me know what you find best it would be worth while bringing some in.

Do a search for the ones shown above, I got 2 of them for $10.00 (USD) including the shipping from Hong Kong. I've not had any problems with them, and they are a little heavier than the alkalines that you can get. These will last 15 hours in either the F4 or F5 before they need a recharge.

I typed a response to your question and don't know what happened but, it didn't post. The 9v batteries I bought are Energizer 175 mAh, 8.4v, NH22N, 6HR61. I have not tried these, as yet, they are for my Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Pro. I bought 1.5v Energizer AA batteries for my F75 and they have a 2300 mAh rating. The numbers on the battery are NH15 1.2v, NiMH-HR6. I am a little concerned about the low amp hour rating on the 9v batteries.....will let you know after I have tried them. The bad part about NiMH batteries is, even though they have a good run time, they lose power very quickly.
They can go from a working charge to dead in a very short time. Alkaline batteries die slowly. I, also, bought a charger.........an Energizer model CHFCV that will charge 9v, C, D, AA and AAA. It will hold 8 AA/AAA and two 9v at the same time.

Dismiss the wisdom of @BTHOM at you own peril. He is correct, and some rechargeable batteries are too large. I even had a cheap set of normal batteries that were too large.
There are even TRUE 9V rechargeable batteries available but I would be checking the size of these before purchase, ensuring I had the correct True 9V charger.

I was, by no means, dismissing what BTHOM stated.........I've just never run into any batteries that were anything but standard size. You are referring to the physical size, correct? If so, does the problem exist with batteries other than the 9v? It may help some folks if you were to post a picture with the standard and oversized batteries together, do you have them both?

I put the larger battery in an Fscope pinpointer and sold the unit. so don't have the battery anymore
But it did catch the tag of the F2 battery holder quite badly. One thing I'm carefull of is not snapping of those tags
