I will get a md but can't justify the extra 200. For thef4. Is there that much difference in machines? Iwill be relic coin beach hunting in east nc. Mostly old fields + plantation sites. Get me straight on what to choose.ty

I hear the F2 does not work too well on the beach in wet sand.

The F4 does, I have one.

The F2 will not work well on wet salt sand due to it preset ground balance. My son uses an F2 and it can hold its own. It does not have quite the tight target identification of some units but does id's well. For the money it is the best bang for the buck.

Go for the F4. I know an extra 200 is a lot but the preset ground balance on the F2 will hurt you in the long run. Its a must to have a versatile machine. You will want to go to different places that WILL HAVE DIFFERENT SOIL CONDITIONS . The F4 will come with a 11x7.5 elliptical DD coil vs a 8" round concentric coil. Also this is one of the only hobbies that i know of that CAN pay you. All it takes is finding that one thing to pay the extra $200. Metal detecting is not the cheapest hobbies to get into.

The F5 is definitely a better choice.

BTW BOTH the F2 & F4 have a preset ground balance. You can only adjust the F4 GB in all metal mode.
