F4 plus six days = $230 nz

Had a week off and spent it on the beaches of Waiheke Island , New Zealand with the aim of finding $100.. did that in the first three days. Found other interesting things too , a couple of silver rings, lots of foreign coins, an ipod. My longest hunt was about four hours which netted over $40.. so $10 per hour.. not quite the minimum wage.... so if I decide to live in a cave somewhere I could at least feed myself.. and buy batteries.

Well to get it here to New Zealand cost close to $600 nz dollars.. still since I got it at the end of February I'm up over $500 from the odd weekend hunt.

Theres the movie and more photos on my blog if your interested.

Bthom I tweeked the F2 so it now hits a solid 61or 62 for a two dollar and 64or 65 for a one dollar (63 does not display)
Before the two dollar hit 59 or 61 (60 does not display) and was jacking me off.
in fact a one dollar was often 59 in a L-R sweep and 61 on the R-L sweep.
we know those Machines are killer
Wishing you more luck

Yeah I find 95% of the time it a 62 or 64 ... the odd time it flick to an odd number.. but mainly 62 , 64 it will be a older , corroding coin...

Got to love them goldies Brett. They sure add up quickly. I'm sure our US friends wish they had them in common circulation.
If I had the chance to spend my holidays like you did, I'd do it in a heart beat. I usually only find those sort of totals when I get down to Sydney.
Good luck.
Mick Evans.

Quite impressive finds Brett, I'm new to this and am leaning towards the F4 or new gold bug. I live in Arizona and can do some nugget shooting too.
Any suggestions?

Tim

I have never tried gold nugget hunting with the f4 so cant give an opinion there, however for what I use it for it really very good for the cost of the machine, as is the f2, I prefer the f4 because I like to use the all metal mode, where as discrimination make you feel a little remote... though it is just a feeling , you will find just as many coins in discrimination mode. I did allot of research and watched allot of videos before getting the f4.. being in New Zealand you cant just change your mind ,drive to the shop and replace your purchase so I had to do my best to get the right machine straight off. So far I am very pleased I got the f4, the more I use it, the more I learn about using it, the more it gives back, literally.

Looks like your research payed off, I've been doing a lot myself. I like that 11" DD coil that comes with the F4 and I figure I can get the 4" for nugget
shooting and meteorite hunting. Beautiful country you have there, my wifes ex is from there. Thanks for your help Brett and when I make my decission
I'll let you know. Tim

The 11"dd took a little learning for me initially... but it soon became second nature. We bought the f4 and the f2 with the three coils... so we got the range 11"dd, 10" 8"and the 4". I haven't really had a play with the little one yet. Yes New Zealand is a beautiful country, just not very old, which is why I think metal detecting here is very uncommon.. I get exited finding cons from the 1930s.

Good job Brett.I to have a f4.I run mine mostly in disc. mode, haven't got used to the all metals mode, due to[i think] the heavy trash areas i hunt, mostly old home sites fresh water shore lines.IMO in all metal mode i feel i would be digging everything!! Like i said I'm just not comfortable in all metal mode.Maybe you can give some pointers!! I do find alot of coins with this machine, mostly clad, with just a few silvers, but i fell my day is coming!! Oh buy the way i have the 4 inch coil for my f4, I found it works better in real trashy areas better then the 11" but i fell i sacrifice some depth, and for sure do not cover as much ground.Again great job!!!

Thanks, yes I use the all metal only on the beach, like you anywhere else there is just too much metal, .. What I do is use the all metal which you cant miss an object with, then flip over to discrimination to see if its worth digging, with all metal and the 11"dd you can pick up a coin about two inches beyond the edges of the coil, so it extends your range when walking along the beach swinging ...Like I say above it would probably sound just as well in discrimination... but I just like to "hear" whats below the coil, and you really do learn all the little differences in sounds.. just fun really.

Brett, quick question for you. How deep are you getting with the 11" DD coil? I am debating purchasing the F4 and would like to hear your input.

Thanks in advance,
bubbadirect

Well to be honest I don't spend allot of time digging deep.. I do pick get coins in the sand to Nine inches pretty clearly. I did a video with all the coils which may give some idea if you havn't already come across it..
