F4 Settings

Depends on the mode you are in, if in DISC All Metal Mode you need to turn down the sensitivity to stop the chatter.

In Auto Tune All Metal Mode you use the Manual Ground Balance and the Threshold controls to get it to just have a slight hum (back ground hum). If you follow the instructions in the manual it's easy to set the F4 up. Learning the machine is key, on hands time with it is the only way to learn how to use it. The more you use it the more you will learn about it and understand what it is trying to tell you about the ground and the objects that it sees. It's a great coin seeker thats for sure. The down side to the DD coil is that it sees crown bottle tops as quarters (US coinage) not sure about other currency.

All I can say is read the manual and the read it again, and again, and put the time in to learn how the F4 reacts to each setting, those that play are those that win, like they say, if you snooze you loose.

Took me about a week to learn how to use it, and that was using it 4 - 6 hours per day for the first week. I am still learning how to use it to this day 3 months later, each time I use it I learn something new, like sweep speed for example.

If your getting chatter when you first turn it on, in all metal, or disc, you may have some interference from something.. what I do is try walking in a straight line for a bit.. that quite often makes it go away... or you could turn down the sensitivity a bit...thats my experience anyway.. :)

If I recall correctly when I had my F4 it was determined that in discrimination mode the ground balance was fixed, it was only available in all metal mode.

If you do some searches for older threads on the F4 you should be able to dig up the old discussions on this topic. The F4 is a good little machine, the 11" DD is great on it.
