F5 finds

Took the f5 out to a old yard today,no silver but some cool relics, lots of nickels and clad..A old spoon hairpin, why would anyone want a spoon in they're hair.lol..The bobcat pin was given from 1938 to around 1950 to cubscouts as a patch before patches were available from what I've read .11 DD coil goes pretty deep, these were all over 7 inches

Tom, that F5 is one sweet detector. What kind of settings are you finding to work the best for you? The only issue I ever had with a F5 was the pinpoint button is very close to the two knobs. When I would wear gloves, I would sometimes knock the settings off by a number or two. Once I realized that, I would quickly check them. Nice finds!

Thanks Ray,it really is a sweet machine.I was running 90 sens,+2 on threshold..I start d to catch a little Emi so I lowered the threshold halfway through to -2 and it was quite..This Machine is way under rated imo, hunts just as good as anything else. And it loves nickels,,I dug about 6 pulltabs that I pitched but they rang in 32 to 34..nickels were consistent 28 30..

Like the early bobcat pin. I have a F 75, but those that have run the F 5 have always spoken very highly of it. One of those good "sleeper" ones. Good luck, HH jim tn

I love that padlock and skeleton key. Keep hitting that place. If you find more wheat pennies, silver can't be far away. and the F5 loves silver !

I've had my F5 for 4 years now and I've learned a lot about this detector and still learning to this day. Mike is right about the F5 loving silver and that's what I mainly hunt for. BigTom, the only thing that run different than you is the sensitivity, you said you were running 90, I like mine at 75, it actually runs deeper there than any other setting or at least it does on my machine.
Love that modulated audio for those deep silver coins, I use that a lot to help with finding deep silver.

I had a Bobcat pin in the Cub Scouts around 1963-64. I distinctly remember being very upset when I lost it.

Yeah, they’re pretty cool pins..They changed them in 1958 from what I’ve read on the site,,from 1938 to 1958 Cub Scouts was two words like mine..After 1958 they made Cubscouts one word..Sorry you lost your pin,it’s a veriy cool find for me
