F5 frequency shift

I am still learning my F5 every time out but the one thing I cant figure out is there any other benefits with the frequency shift other than when clashing with another detector. Plus how do I know if i'm being affected by another M D.

I USE THE F-5 AND MY WIFE USES THE ACE 250. SOMETIMES WHEN WE GET CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER BOTH DETECTORS GO HAYWIRE. I JUST CHANGE FREQUENCY AND EVERYTHING IS FINE. YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOUR DETECTOR IS CLASHING WITH ANOTHER BECAUSE YOU WILL GET A CONSTANT SQUEALING SOUND THAT IS REALLY ANNOYING.
ON SOME OCCASIONS I HAVE DETECTED RIGHT UNDER POWER LINES AND WILL SOMETIMES GET THE ANNOYING SQUEAL OR YOUR DETECTOR WILL CONSTANTLY BEEP. THAT IS WHEN THE FREQUENCY CHANGE HELPS THE SITUATION. HH

It helps to change freq. somtimes when your experiencing EMI. It may not eliminate it but can reduce the effects of it..

I think you got some good input but perhaps your asking will an F5 get more silver coins or perhaps gold jewelry in a particuliar frequency and feel you might do some experimenting along that line but probably tuned to work best overall in a default of 1 but again perhaps 2 or 3 can help with EMI or cutting out the crosstalk with a hunting buddy and above all a good tool in a planted compettion hunt..if you are having detector interference. Personally I would use a default of 1 for best oveall performance unless
the above problems are evident but might be a good question for a Fisher tech...
