F5 gain & ground balance

Once you are up and running with the F5, does changing the gain require a re-ground balancing? If this is covered in the manual I missed it. Thanks in advance for an reply.

I wouldn't think so, unless you are moving it way higher and the extra ground minerals you are now able to hear may need a bit of tweaking to quiet down chatter.
Gain is amplification, your transmit power is fixed and will still penetrate the ground to a specified level no matter where you set the gain.
Increasing the gain/sensitivity just increases the amplification of deeper, smaller targets plus those ground minerals so everything gets noisier.
A quick GB might help in some cases.

I do know that after every frequency change ground balancing is always recommended on units that have that option.

Changing the gain does not change your ground balance. If you turn the detector off then you need to reset everything including ground balance. One thing you'll learn about the F5 is those knobs will move slightly from touch or vibration and it's not a bad idea to check your settings about once an hour, if your in a heavy wooded area more often than that.

Thank you Revier for the reply. Wasn't sure. I have a CZ5 and the book states I can switch from Auotune to Disc without a re-balance. But it suggests that if the sensitivity is changed then he GB should be checked. So I do. It will be handy with the F5 to increase the sensitivity briefly without having to re-balance. Mine has been ordered and looking forward to it's arrival. Thanks again. HH

Still Looking 52, thanks for the reply. Good thing to know. And a good reminder about the knobs. I don't need help from trees and bushes to tamper with my settings. I usually manage to bump knobs on my own. Thanks again. HH
