F5 ground balance question

In an area where there is either so much mineralization or so much small iron that you can't find a "quiet" spot to ground balance, what do you do? I've been hunting some OLD locations lately and not finding any coins at all. I know they're not "guaranteed" to be there just because the place has some age, but I can't help but wonder if I'm missing them because of questionable ground balancing.

Hi,

The F5 will balance out or cancel any mineralization. But....the more severe the level of mineralization, the tighter the ground balance point. So where in one spot where the minerals are mininum to weak, you could move your ground balance several numbers before see a change in all metal threshold. In severe minerals, one click inside a number range can put your ground balance off and make a all metal threshold change. The real issue with severe mineralization is if it changes a lot within small areas.

In high trash areas, you may to walk away from the area a little bit to find a area to balance to. Or you may just have to use the default setting that displays at power up if you just can't find a place to ground balance. One last option is to create a place to ground balance. Clean up a little 2 foot square area and balance there.

Good luck,
HH
Mike
