F5 Pinpointing

Sven

Well-known member
What I can do on most of my detectors is use the coil's front tip edge to pinpoint when you can't find the target when digging within a hole. Or when checking the pile of dirt next to your hole.
Works great when the target is really small. A technique I picked up from using a PI machine that works extremely well with the F5.
Probably why I never bought or thought I needed an actual pinpointer.

Not sure if this tip has been posted anywhere.

Good tip!

Learning how to locate the find quickly and efficiently is a form of work flow. Time is money so to speak. If you can locate faster without a pin pointer you win in several ways. Less to spend money on, less to carry and less to juggle. I find that more than I like I just lose it and waste time relocating. As I move from the thousands to tens of thousands of target dug I usually know what and with in maybe an inch where it is before I dig, but carrying a pin pointer still makes sense to me. When I need it I want it at my fingertips!
