F5 problem

Hi there...
I have some problem with my Fisher F5 detector, and need help.

I bought detector two years ago, and I had found many roman coins and other artifacts. But now I have a problem.
I come on the field, turn F5 on, adjust settings and start with hunting... And few minutes later, my F5 starts with million false signals, even if I don't move it... What is that?
My usual settings are: Gain: 55, TH: 4 - 6, ground balance varies from 30 to 60. Now I tried to set gain to 15, TH to -8, and there is again million false signals... Not good...
Phase readings are also very incorrect; when I ground balancing it, it ends with ground balance 00...

Please help me, give me some advice...

That doesn't sound good. I'm just going to through some stuff out there and see if any thing helps.

Is your coil plugged all the way in?
Do you have another coil you can try to see if maybe you have a coil failure?
Can you try another field and see if the same thing happens? Maybe that one has an electric fence or something? Does it do the same thing in the house?
Try switching out batteries. Low voltage can cause wierd problems sometimes.

My F5 did the same thing and even though the battery meter had two bars left the machine was going nuts. I changed batteries and everything was fine. The weird thing is I usually can run the machine down to one bar with no problems.

Coil is plugged in, I don't have another coil for checking coil failure...
I was on two different fields in few days, and everywhere is the same... There are no electric fence or high voltage wires around. And in the past, I hunted here without problems...
I tried batteries trick, no use...

I don't know, I hope that coil is not died...

Had that same problem with my new F75 LTD, none stop false signals digital num. ID's all over the screen. it was 2 days old, called Felix at Fisher and they said to sent the unit for repair, I told him I was sending it back to KellyCo first, they replaced it, course it was only 2 days old, might as well call Felix cause all those suggestion didn't work on mine.

Ok had the same problem. Simple fix, coil plug is BAD. Had the coil replaced with the newer coil connector screw in type instead of push in type to the control box. Felix at Fisher took care of the problem and replaced the coil with screw in type, never had a problem again. The push in coil plug gets crushed after many times from taking in and out of the control box and the wires start to touch each other. You need the screw in type.

I think if you replace the older style push-in F5 coil with the newer screw in type, you'd also need to replace the connector port on the detector itself since the two types of coils are not compatible.

I was hoping that I could fix the problem by myself... You see, I'm from Croatia and shipping detector to the States is a Little problem for me...

If the problem is in the coil plug, maybe I can do it by myself. Or maybe not... Don't know...
