F5 push on connector conversion

shiraz

New member
Hi all,
Would anyone know how to convert an F5 push on connector to screw on? Is there a simple adaptor available. Has Fisher brought one out ?
Would anyone know who sells them? Anyone on Ebay sell them as I am in Australia?
.
Cheers

Are you trying to connect a coil with push-on connector to a detector with screw-on? Or other way around? Easy enough to change out the coil connector to suit whichever control housing you have. I did that with two screw-on coils that I wanted to use with my push-on connector version of the F5. The wires in the cable are color coded and I can supply a wiring diagram for either connector type if you need it.

Thanks for the reply Occupant, I need to convert my push-in coil plug to screw in. Also would you know if the centre pin is wired up ?

I assume that your detector's housing has the screw-in connector. (If not, there isn't any way , short of tearing into the housing to make the conversion. There is a deep flange cast into the housing at the coil connector and none of the 5 pin screw-in jacks that I have seen will fit there. Plus, the face must be peeled from the housing to get inside. Major surgery)

If the housing has the screw-in jack, then the wiring diagrams attached will give you the wiring info to convert between screw-in and push-in connectors. I had to convert two coils to push-in, since I wasn't able to convert the F5 housing to screw-in. The connectors, both DIN push-in and 5 pin 'mic' screw-in , are available on eBay or a CB shop.
Hope this helps.

What about making a pig tail -- one end push in, 6" or so on the opposite end a screw in connect. You could then switch between types of coils and not open the case, also the problem with tight clearance problems would be solved. Has anyone done anything like this?

Hi all. I purchases the CB mic cable and the DIN male Plug Cable Connector 6 Pin and trying to make the adapter (screw to push-on).

The wires in the cb cable mic has the colors reb, blue, black, white and a bare wire. I don't know which colors go to which pins.

Anyone out there can help me out? Can I buy a adapter somewhere? I looked on ebay and searched google with no luck.

Maybe this will help -- I got this from another member and made a pig tail going from push in to screw on for an F2

I did it!. And I only burned one finger. Thanks for the help.
