I've been reading mike hill is post on the f5 and the bible. I've seen where he uses a threshold setting of -9, can anyone give me a more detailed explanation of when and where to use this setting?

That minimizes sensitivity in the discrimination mode. You might want to resort to that in an area loaded with small trash objects like shotgun pellets or can slaw?

Hare to "pre set" sensitivity/gain or ground balance until I arrive at a site and see what the conditions call for.
