f70 and 11 DD

THIS WINTER BLOWS, BUT ANYWAY I HAVE THE 91/2 COIL AND AM WONDERING IF THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THAT AND THE 11 IN. DD SHOULD I INVEST IN THE BIG ONE OR STICK WITH THE ONE THAT CAME WITH MY F70? GO BEARS

I am a DD coil fan myself. I would try to find a used one that way you could re sell it if you don't like it. I think you will!

If you are looking for more depth and a little better ID at depth then I would say go for it. On the other hand if you are hunting in parks where there's a lot of bottle caps the DD will give you some problems.

Bstaehe, ive got an F70 with both coils, but have not put on the stock one yet, just the 11dd...i am curious, are you finding some good stuff with the stock coil? I have been using this detector since April, and its my first one, I have only got 5 silver dimes. three of which were maybe 7-8" deep, no silver quarters yet, but I'm sure this detector will pick them up if I am over them someday.
...I bought this from a local dealer, and he said the F70 really shines with the 11dd, which seems to be the consensus here.
Full disclosure, I have no idea what I'm doing with this thing, but its really paid for itself in short order, and the wife has gotten more jewelry from me this past summer than in our whole 30 years together! Stay in it man!

Bestahe I have been using the F70 for 2 summers and I have the standard/11DD/6.5" coils. I like the 6.5" the best. I use it the most. Haven't had the 11DD coil on in some time. I use the 11DD on the beach because I am digging with a 5" scoop and in the sand. So if my pinpoint isn't that close I can just dig in another hole near with no sweat.
When digging in the park I really don't want to dig too deep of a hole or too big of a hole. Besides the longer I am down there digging the harder it is to get up and the less holes I can dig before calling it quits. The 6.5" is dead on for pin pointing and it will go 6" plus. It is much lighter to swing. I always say most of my coins are in the range of 1" to 3". Even the silver coins. Even the gold that I have found is in that range also. Am I passing up stuff, certainly I am. I am not going to get it all. I know I have found many a coil/jewelry that others have passed up. Just sent in my gold/silver jewelry. Very surprised with a little over $1,400.
It is your hunt. Develop a way of hunting that you are happy with and watch your coin/jewelry count go up. You will spend more time because it is more fun and learn a lot more naturally. My great grandson does only fun things and does he have the fun. At 70 I am out there for 4 or more hours sometimes 7 days a week. It is only because I have learned from my great grandson have fun.
I have seen guys out there so wired up because they didn't find silver or gold. It is a hobby. It is a fun hobby for me. I hope you will make it so too.
Thanks for reading and Happy Trails......Z

Christ Zee, the only time I hunt 4 hours or more is at the beach, on land that just sometimes kills my back. You at 70 and me at 63, you're doing really good. Keep it up, that is one way to stay young. Guess I need to send in the gold I have found at the beach but just waiting to see if it will go higher. Good hunting. John

Thank you John. It sure does help to be a little nuts. My wife loves it because I am not home. She tells me to go detecting. I have been retired going on 11 years. The F70 works great on the fresh water beaches. I really enjoy detecting and it has become the most important thing for me to do.
I have tried to hunt with a few of the younger guys but it never works out. They want to go home after a few hours.
I met Dave this summer on the beach and he was not sure what he was doing. I helped him the best that I could with a few easy things. Can you imagine your first detector a v3i? Any way we hit it off and we are hunting buddies. He likes going out to different sites and stays out until the pain pills wear off and then we call it quits. He is now in rehab for hip replacement. Talked to him today and he is looking forward to getting out in the next few months. I have so much to be great full for from this hobby. It sure has been a life changer for me. Thanks again John and Happy Trails....Z
