F70 and mini elliptical concentric 1st time out

New member
Treated myself and the F70 to the mini elliptical concentric fisher coil for xmas.It came mounted on it's own lower rod from Kellyco,a nice suprise.Took it to one of my old trash filled spots. I have always used round mini coils before. One thing I noticed about this elliptical coil is that I get some "iron wrap" with iron disced out,it would hit medium sized rusty nails as 91-92. It kind of acted more CZ ish than F series. I will try it next with iron accepted and see how it acts. stability, depth ,and pinpointing were all very good. Happy hunting.

On some machines espically Fisher CZ'S if you hunt with iron rejected medium and large sized iron targets will fool the target id/audio

I find with the 10" elliptical on my F70 when I get "iron wrap", as you call it, I drop my threshold to between -1 and -3. I believe it comes mostly from tiny rust particles. This helps in many cases. Hope this helps------------IB

I think the Mini is the 3" x 6" elliptical concentric.

Thanks for the replys guys. I actually measured it and it is 6.5"L and 3.25W most people call it the 6" elliptical or mini football. ibdiggin thanks for the threshold tip,i will try that along with accepting iron.On a side note I bought my son an F2 for christmas,I can't wait to hunt with him.

Definitely accept the iron because the rust will still come in with a high tone weather the iron is accepted or discriminated.
The iron grunt helps determine weather the high tone rust is associated with the iron or possibly a deep, nearly out of range, high tone coin.
Hearing that grunt can give you a more reliable audio hunt that relieves you from having to constantly watch your screen all the time
which to me is quite exhausting.---------Hope this helps---------------IB
