F70 and Notch instructions.

I just followed the so called instructions on page 19 of the F70 instruction manual and RESET my F70. I then brought up NOTCH and ran up the + sign until the meter read 40. A "SLASH" appeared through the TAB setting as the manual said it would. I have two questions now:

1. Will the detector detect objects that are listed below TAB?

2. How do I eliminate the SLASH that is through the TAB setting? Do I have to RESET the F70 in order to do this? I have tried everything and the SLASH is still there. Thank you for reading and any help given. Dave.

I don't think it will read anything below the 40 number. I think you can use the "-" pad and run the notch back to where you want it without resetting the unit.

No matter how long I hold the - (minus) button down, the slash will not move off of the TAB setting at the top of the meter on my F70.
Also, even though the slash is across the TAB setting, the detector will still signal objects that are below TAB, such as nickels,
some gold rings etc. So far, the only way I can get rid of the "slash is to RESET the detector. I don't believe this is right. HELP.

Reset your F70 as instructed on page 19 of the instruction manual. While in the NOTCH section Press the (+) button up to the reading of 40. Now press the (-) minus button back down to zero or #1. Does the SLASH from across the TAB setting dissapear?
Mine stays on and I can't remove it until I RESET the detector again. Is this the way it should be? Thanks for any help.

In notch mode run the number up to 40 and press the menu button.
Now you have notched in tab tops. If you run it up to 40 again and press menu you will notch out tab tops.
Remember that it takes a few seconds for the display to reset sometimes.
That is how mine works anyway. Merf

Merf is right. Once you have something notched out...while in "notch" run the + button back to what is notched out and hit the menu button...it will remove the notch and the line will disappear....how my F70 works anyway. Good luck!
