F70 DE or SL Mode???

Hello everyone I'm going to be hopefully getting out this weekend at an old home site. There is a fair amount of trash I was wondering what are my best settings for finding things deep and giving me the best target ID. DE mode sensitivity85- 90,disc0-4 threshold0,notch 1 or SL mode sensitivity 75-80,disc5-10,threshold-3,notch 1 which is the better setting?? I'm looking to find deeper targets I'm hunting near an old home that's located in the woods so there's some brush and trees to deal with I'm looking for coins, buttons, jewelry, which of the 2 settings would be the best????

hello steve the sl mode will be deeper but you may have to turn the thershold down because of all the trash you will know if you get to much chatter or false signals also you may want to turn the sens down abit me personally would use the de mode in trashy areas but all land types are different and you just have to experiment. im from england so it maybe alot different here i nnow its not a definite answer but hope it helps.
ps in trashy areas i turn the disc right up and still get good depth also it will allow you time to concentrate on good signals

Steve, with my F70, I never would hunt in SL fulltime. I hunted in DE with settings similar to yours. Then when I got a marginal deep possible "good" signal I would switch to SL for a minute or two and study it further taking it real slow. The SL would hone in and clear up some of the uncertainty. That was just my style of doing it. BOL, CO

Thanks for the info! you got a good point there so I'm using the DE mode caue I got a lot of ground to cover and when I hit some smaller grounds I'll use the SL mode cause were I'm hunting now it would take me 2 years to cover all this ground in SL mode. hanks for all the info!

Also Does anyone know about how fast you should go while in SL mode? medium pace or? cause I know in DE mode you can go pretty fast so how fast should you go in SL mode?

Hi Steve
You are looking for precise answers to your questions that can not be answered that closely by others. Slack off Steve, metal detecting is for fun. You are not going to find everything. You can go over a site many times and still find stuff each time. Your questions can only be answered by you with taking your time to get to know the detector. I use the F70 and it is a fantastic machine. The more you get to know it the better it preforms.
I have only used SL one time and that was for a short time during a hunt. It chattered a lot and I had to slow up to really look for the good targets. My own hunting, I like to cover a big area when hunting so I move along at a good pace, to me. Of course it could be as slow as molasses in winter to others, but I real don't care about what others think. I am out there to enjoy... Thanks for reading Steve and enjoy your time hunting and finding..... Happy Trails....Z
