F70 finished paying for itself and then some!

Well after around 6 months or so of hunting with the F70, it has paid for its self with gold alone! I paid 425 for this unit on eBay used, and with this find it put me at 471.00 of scrap gold found and sold. My setting were disc 4 (then later went to 15, because of iron in the soil) thres 0 4h tones. It was a hard day on the beach trying to find some new ground that hasn't been searched before. Think we found some, me and pyledriver from this forum site had gone out together, and searched all day. Didn't find much except this bracelet, 14.77 grams of 14k, which I sold the same day for 300 in scrap. Bracelet hit well, around 20-22 with a little bounce, it was only 2 inches or so deep, I had to raise the coil a little to get the signal to settle down a little. I was very excited and couldn't believe my eyes when I turn the shovel over, I took the pic exactly how it feel out of the shovel. I strongly think I am gonna save up my gold money for an At Pro, only because it can go in the water and that will give me more time to hunt these beaches in the summer.

That is the cool thing about detecting, you never know when it will be a gold or silver kind of day.

Yes and how quickly it can turn around, my wife had just texted me a few feet before I found this and asked if I had found anything that day, I sent back to her "sorry babe, not today" then maybe 8-10 ft further in front of me I hit this! Then I sent her a pic and said looks like my luck had changed!

Alright! Thats really great! :cheers::drool::surprised:

Not too many hunters have EVER bagged a gold chain! :please: Seriously dude, nice score.....most guys would walk right on by that kind of signal, and most would never hear it in the first place, on account of they dont run a Fseries!
..
A real trophy! I didnt know you hunted with Pyledriver! I've been talking killing hogs/ballistics with that guy via PM..I'ma hafta get on down to TX one of these days!

FWIW...I do the same thing with most of my gold..sell it right away for that immediate gratification a subsistance hunter gets...if I dont, I lose it all to my wife anyway!. Dang thats a beauty you got there! I keep looking at the chain pic and drooling! You made my day here!
Mud

When you come down to texas let me know and I will take you out to some of our beaches! Pyledriver is hooked, he can't wait to go back out again.

Only 3 words come up here.

Keep or sell?

Sold it! Gold was up a little I figured might as well, and I know the local gold guy and can get 80% of melt.., gotta check out a place in Dallas that's supposed to give around 92-95% for scrap gold, but I would have to have more to make the trip worth my time.

Yeah...most detectorist fellows use ARA out of TX or Midwest out of MI....and yes, you will get more than dealing local...still, theres just something about some guy counting out bills right there in your hand that is a better feeling than getting a check in the mail!
Mud

Well on that amount, the extra 10-12 or so percent would only net me an additional 30-36 dollars so yes the 3 100 dollar bills in my hand was a no brainer lol

nice score this site will tell you exactly what your gold is worth http://dendritics.com/metal-calc/original/ hh

I know the formula to convert it and multiply it out. The gold guy doesn't seem to like it when you come in already knowing your weight, price per gram, and the total you would like.

You mean that hurt puppy look?
Or the "Gee Wally, I thought I was gonna screw this guy outta some money" look?

I especially like the ones that try and pay less than scrap price because the piece is damaged.

Amazing find. A real beauty. It seems to me that gold jewelry that in great shape is worth more than scrape gold. Just Imagine how much someone would charge to make a piece of gold jewelry out of some scrape gold.

tabman

You know tabman, me and my wife talked about that, the clasp needed repair as well as the end the clasp hooks to. Maybe 50-75 dollars to repair at the jewler, but then I would have to sell it and at least get 375-400 to just make it worth my time. Probably could just for know how many people are looking for used jewlery on the Internet these days, so I went with the easy money.

WAY TO MIKE !!! There's one out there for me too, I can just feel it in my bones. :hot:

:detecting:

Mike and I had a great time in spite of the cold! A little clad-maybe $2 worth, tons of pull tabs and sinkers...but that find is definitely the motivation! There's got to be more there!

I agree I think we are just finding a spot that hasn't been searched much and I am excited to get back out there when work will allow it, there has to be more.
