F70 slow mode

When to use slow mode. I assume you can use it in most areas when you are after old coins unless it's one of those areas that is so iron trashy you need a small coil and slow way down. I'll have an F70 tomorrow. Been reading up about it and the settings.

thanks,
Rick

I think theres one other guy who uses SL mode...i cant remember who...I'm no help to you on this matter, but congratulate you for your F70 and wish you many fantastic finds! i've been running in DE since day one, maybe SL is better for deep silver, I dont know.

The Slow mode will give you 2 or more inches more depth then DE if you can use it in low EMI areas. I use it often with great results.

I run SL mode 99% of my time (14 months in the field with F70). It gives more depth and better (more accurate) ID reading. So far I had only two places where SL mode was not performing well - both fields contaminated with thousands pieces of small rusted iron. In general I prefer to work with low discrimination (more depth). SL mode requires 1-2 points higher dicsr to reduce chatter compared to DE mode. If too noisy, lower the threshold or sensitivity. My usual settings for SL:
Discrimination on 2
Threshold on -3 (-2 where possible)
Sensitivity on 82-86
Tones on 3H
Swing slowly, try to keep constant speed about 3 feet per second. In my case it works perfectly.

I love the SL mode. I used anywhere. I am field hunter, rarely hunters within the city.

SL give slower response time, and get more EMI, but more deep. C_D said true, you must be slow and patient.
After i hunted the site in DE mode, hunt again in SL. Worth it.
