F75 comes through again

Out the other day after a good rain I went to a new spot and started swinging, never thought after finding that 1840 O Half Dime I'd find what came out the ground. 1835 cap bust 5c. coin, its a shame that it had a hole punched in it, that coin would have gotten an almost uncirculated grade.

Pretty nice bucket list find(s). Somewhat ironic, in fact, last fall my F 75 within a two day span found me my first two half dimes. Mine were 1841 and 1836 and my Bust was holed, too. Some good digging there. The 75 will do it! HH jim tn

Really cool find, someone probably put a hole in it to wear as a necklace would be my guess.

Actually that hole looks like a bullet hole with its entrance at the reverse (back) of the coin.
Nice find.

Pretty good size hole, for sure, but back in that era it wasn't un-common to hole a coin(s) and put them on a string or string of leather and wear them around their neck to keep from loosing them. Quite a few older coins and reales found have holes in them. I found a 1812 half reale earlier this year that was also holed. HH jim tn

I run in 3 or 4d and the half dimes and half reale gave a high tone and as I recall i d'ed about like a clad dime. None were deeper then 4". HH jim tn

Coin looks like the hole was made with a square nail. Nice find. CCH
