F75 LTD

Well-known member
My dealer here in Michigan, told me that fisher was having probs getting components from Texas Instruments,so they bought a bunch of junk parts from china, and thats where all the probs started. But they may have the LTD out in nov.I am not trying to start any rumors, its only what I have been told.Does this sound right or is he just blowing smoke up my..........Oh and what do you guys think a very little used, still in the box F75LTD camo is worth??? I may have a shot at one thurs.I have pretty much given up on the gold bug pro,I am hearing next year.

Hi Rick, That is what has been going around. He didn,t lie, but no one knows for sure but Fisher. Just check things before you buy. Not saying it is true, not saying it is not , just be careful. Dean

I don't know about the components situation, but from the "horses mouth" certain components have been tough to get, hence the reasons for the delay. As far as the price of a slightly used camo LTD, I would think any where from around $150.00 to $200.00 off dealers price would be a decent deal...which would include two coils, the stock 11" and the 5." Slightly, of course, is a relative term. I have the camo LTD and like the camo fine. As good as the LTD is, color is not a factor. HH jim tn

Thanks jim, flintstone,I realize color is not a factor.A few months ago ther where some outrages prices on these LTD'S.Just wanted some honest input. Percentage wise what i have heard and read about the Ltd have been real good.Rick in Mi.

Myself I think it is a plus to them for not releasing a machine that isn't ready, or maybe not right.. China Parts ????????? First Texas Instrument Parts. ??????????????. Who even confirmed their buying from either one ??? Just a thought................Maybe Mike Scott will weigh in on this and advise all interested , but I doubt F/T will even share where their electronic parts do or do not come from.

Im glad a certain dealer steered me towards the camo when he had them in. It was right early in the year (in the winter) and I could of ordered the black, but he said "April?", but you never really know, and I dont think he was pressuring either. So I got the camo and have had a heck of a season with it thus far. I agree with Elton, it shows more principles for a co. to wait if they think something is not right. (not that there is any confirmation that something is off either) Hey if you could get a very slightly used with a guarantee, you could be out there tomorrow. Now if it comes out with some changes other than color, then of course it will be a different beast. BOL, CO

Elton I agree, thats why i want to buy a good used one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a F75LTD and it has been great to use this year. I think that the good used ones will bring more money when people find out they're going to have to wait longer. I do not fault First Texas at all, they gave an explantion on the Detector Depot Fisher Forum. They are taking heat for not having the detectors out, but why would they intentionally lose money by not being able to deliver the detectors. They are definitely worth the wait, though !!

HH,

Mike

Sheesh guys the real info has been posted - no need to start false rumors. If FT was using cheap parts from china don't you think they would be shipping machines now instead of telling everyone (who bothers to get info straight from them) that there is a parts shortage???

anyway here is a quote from Dave ....

"There are widespread parts shortages in the electronics industry. Many parts are being quoted several months' lead time or even longer. This has created a thriving counterfeit parts industry operating mostly out of China which is increasingly sophisticated in its ability to slip fake stuff into supposedly secure distribution channels. It also means that purchasing departments out of desperation occasionally take their chances with parts subs that aren't direct crosses, and with unfamiliar suppliers which although they may be legitimate, may be manufacturing inferior quality parts. Engineering dept. is often involved in the unpleasant task of having to approve parts or vendors we know involve some risk. We don't like it, but like Jack Gifford says, "It ain't a perfect world".

So when when you finally get your parts, guess what? If they're counterfeit, they don't work, and if they're legit, you may still run into problems. You're back to square one.

By most accounts, venerable Texas Instruments is the worst offender in the parts shortage. We used to think of them as a reliable supplier even on single-source parts. But when the economy fell a year and a half ago, they panicked and thought it was the end of the world, and cut 'way back on production capacity. Then the economy rebounded and they couldn't supply demand for their parts, many of which are single-source items for which there are no substitutes.

To my knowledge there's no unresolved engineering issue on the "black LTD's". Like someone in this thread already suggested, marketing department would dearly love to be selling them. I presume it's a parts availability issue.

That's an interesting comment, as the black LTD is allegedly identical to the original LTD. One would think there would be zero engineering issues on an existing product that only required an external color change

A telling insight
