F75 Noisey UPDATE

Ok I think it was Jim tn who said he thinks it could be the coil (11"), got so many suggestion can't remember them all, but the only other coil I have for the F75 is the 5" that came with it. Disc 25 Foil, 85 SEN, 3H tone( Hi-tone for nickels) BP process. UNBELIEVABLE!!! it was more stable then my 1270, and nickels came in at 8"s. it was stable smooth not erratic at all, ID's were dead on the money, even in the area I call CAN-SLAW ALLEY, It worked perfect, but I had that same thing happen with my 1270 went crazy for 2 days called Fisher for repair didn't sent in in right away and the problem just stopped for 3 weeks then it came back they replaced the ground balance pot and recalibrated it, that last 2 months just sent it back for the same thing. Posted a pic of todays finds with the 5" coil. Now putting the 11' back on it and trying it out.

Hey Shooter, I was following your last post. I, too, have a little of that same problem, but not as bad. I think for me its that the detector is reading every little thing in its sight. That's why I'm relying on the confidence meter so much. I'm glad to see your success with the 5" coil. Hopefully the 11" coil will work out for you next. HH. Matt

It will be interesting to hear what happens when you put the 11" coil back on. When my Omega 10" coil "right out of the blue" went bonkers, I tried it again a couple of days later and for a few minutes it worked like it should, but then became very erratic again. When I took it off and began looking at the plastic connection end of the coil wire I noticed a small screw was missing that screws through the connection housing into the plastic plug and ultimately the plug would move around just enough not to make a firm connection and the detector then became erratic. Dave Johnson saw a related post and emailed me that he would have some small screws sent to me. I had a 6 1/2" coil that I took the screw out of and used in on the Omega coil. I used the coil for 3 hours today and all is well. I suggest everyone should check the screws from time to time to insure they remain tight. On some of the coil connection ends there are actually 3 screws. One that goes through the silver housing and screws into the plug. This is a really short, small screw. The other 2 go into the silver band that goes around the coil wire and these are a bit longer. Glad to hear it is probably only a coil problem. HH jim tn

That's great, Shooter! Glad you have the issue isolated without having to send the unit back! I sure wish I lived in your area for hunting! People around here must have deeper pockets....they just don't lose that much change!!

Good finds......5 inch is getting it done.......hh.....Dan

Ok guys hooked the 11" coil backup to f75 , turned it on and it went totally wacky. Looks like its the coil. Now I going to have to play go around with KellyCo.

Shooter, if it is any comfort, my dealings with Kellyco has been very positive in all respects. My thoughts are that they will do whatever is needed to keep you as a satisfied customer. Keep us posted!

Glad to hear you goterr sraightened out Shooter:thumbup:

Hopefully its a bad 11" coil, but I'm not fooling around with KellyCo, I want the whole unit replaced, been that fix route before said it was fixed and 2 week later started all over again, this F75 is only 10 days old (talking about my 1270 not the F75). The only bad thing is I have to send it bayk first before they will ship a new one.

In that case, you may want to make an inconspicuous mark somewhere (i.e. inside the battery compartment) so you can tell if they send you the same one back. I just went through that scenario with a Garmin gps that had a battery recall. I got a different gps back......hacked me off.

Already did it. thanks the trick is to photograph the marks with time and date showing, I'm doing that so it better come back without the marks.
