f75 question

Well-known member
Im new to the f75 was curious if this is normal, When i hold the detector or lay it flat on the floor the coil goes to the left like somethings not ligned
up right. Are they suppose to be like that or is the handle crooked, I was so use to the xlt being straight is why i asked.
Maybe im being picky lol, Just not use to seeing something like this.
I tried uploading a few pics but haveing problems about file larger than 480 kb

Noticed when i loosen the bottom rod from the middle, i dont have the pin in the hole and can twist the lower rod to make it straight.
Why would they sell a lower rod with the holes not straight, yea im picky..

Mine is the same way and it worried the heck out of me.you can twist it then tighten the lock nut. And then you can wrap it wit tape to hold it in place.
It's not the best design and should be changed.

Although it shouldn't have come that way, rods are not to expensive and if its new, Fisher may even replace it. HH jim tn

Yea american craftmanship lol, yea i noticed if i took out the middle rod and hooked up the lower to the handle part its still off who ever drilled them holes needs a pair of glasses.
All i gotta say, Its the main handle hole where the middle rod hooks to. All that money for a lopsided detector SMH

If your machine is new I think FT will replace the part under warranty, if it is a used machine you got burnt. If you can determine which part is made wrong I would call FT and I would say they will sale you a new one.

I don't think the center rod section is the problem, it just has holes for the lock pins. So the problem is in either the lower rod or the handle section with the pin being out of line.

If it was out of line enough I couldn't handle that and it would be fixed even if I had to send the whole detector in for repair.

Looks to me to be in the handle rod, that hole where the pin goes in is off alignment, When i
take the pin out of the hole and twist the shaft to line the coil up with the control box.
Im going to call fisher and see what they charge.

Thanks for the help for those that responded.

Thanks for this post!!! I literally was taking pictures of this last night because I have this exact same issue, and it is killing my arm. I'll jump on my phone later and post it. My shaft shoots to the right but my coil cocks to the left. It is a nightmare to swing. I got my F75 LTD2 used but under warranty. Would you mind following up with what Fisher/First Texas says about it? Thanks.

Here is the pic. Notice from the handle shaft it hits right then the coil cocks to the left. Swinging this for an hour is worse than swinging my CTX 3030 all day.

Yea, looks as crooked as the used car dealer I bought my last piece of junk from.
Seems to be making a hard right turn like a driver trying to avoid a possom on a dark rural road at night.
Definitely see what Fisher can/will do for you.

Also...nice toes.

I reduced the pic down for you.

Thanks for the reply REVIER! And for helping with the pic, was using my phone and having a hard time figuring the picture out. I'm definitely going to call Fisher today and get this sorted out. Other than the screaming pain in my arm from having to pronate way right to keep the coil flat I'm in love with the F75. Traded an Etrac for it and would usurp my CTX as my goto machine as soon as I can swing it for more than an hour without my arm and hand seizing up on me.

I just got off the phone with Fisher and even though I'm the third owner, after seeing the pictures they are going to repair at no charge. Looks like a manufacturing defect at the Upper S shaft and possibly coil ears. So kudos to Fisher for doing the right thing.
