F75 settings knob

The settings knob function was mentioned in another thread and I didn't want to high-jack that thread.

I was reading something about that knob function and I can't find the source, but it stated that the pushing of the knob didn't do anything. Before my upgrade I kind of believed that, but my first trip out after the upgrade I had a problem. It was cold so I had gloves on and was hunting along and decided to make some changes in settings. When I was going from like one processor to another DE to FA or any of the others I noticed it wasn't changing like before and I just thought the knob was not being turned because of the gloves. But after quit a bit of turning it would make the change.

When I got home and got the gloves off I found that I was turning the knob but the settings were not changing, now I am thinking the knob is slipping on the stem, but I could feel the clicking. So thinking this thing is broken I pushed on the knob while making changes and all of sudden it started acting like it should. Now I haven't been playing with the knob but in the other thread it was stated that when pushed it does have a function that is not stated in the manual.

Just wondering is there some kind of short circuit that is causing reaction. The knob does have a click when pushed like it could be doing something, but the manual says nothing about it.

If I have a problem I would like to know while I still have some bad weather time to send it back.

As I mentioned on the earlier thread. On my F-75 if I am in a menu setting area of the screen and press the settings button it backs out of settings and highlights the heading of either Discrimination or All Metal, depending on which side I was working in. It seems to be a good way of exiting after making changes. I just hope it's not hurting anything by misusing a component for an unintended purpose.

Don't think it is a flaw but as you say there is no mention of it in the manual.

Works sort of like the menu button but it does not change positions.

Couple of examples.

Got everything set the way you like it and you leave the menu sen.highlighted every time you push the knob you will stay in the sen.block and can make adjustments.

Say you leave it on the blank screen where you switch between Disc.and AM. Simple push and turn of the knob and you are in AM or reverse to disc. Sort of handy.

Also quick push also puts you in detect mode without waiting.

Im sure you know that when in BP a push of the menu button puts you in DE.

Cl does that, too.

Lets you verify a target. I note on test targets that the CL beeps WAY after the coil is past it. Have to work slow in that and boost.

Found an old link about pressing the settings knob that states exactly what Charlie P. (NY) said:
