F75 threshold tone

Is the threshold in the Static All-Metal as pronounced as the Motion mode? I thought my F75 had a silent static mode because when I searched in the Motion all metal and switched to the static mode I lost my threshold, even setting it up all the way to 9 I couldn't hear it.....any idea's or a little insight would be appreciated.

If you crank it all the way up you might hear a bumble bee rumbling sound, but thats the internal circuits not a threshold.

The manual may be a bit misleading when it comes the the Static mode as only the Motion all metal mode has the threshold.

I haven't played with it, but page 13 of the manual has Threshold setting for Motion All Metal Mode while page 14 has instructions for setting the Threshold in Static All Metal Mode.

The instructions would indicate it should exist in both.

What headphones are you using?

Manual says but I had no luck getting a threshold in the Static all metal....Someone here should no something.................

I want to know how static mode works too. I don't want to pick up small pieces of trash near the surface.

Can't help you. But I did try. Just spent 20 minutes outside in my jammies trying to get a threshold tone in STAT mode.

With my DetectorPro headphones (132 ohms, I believe) all I get is a constant, loud, annoying signal in the STAT mode. Starts low and then builds regardless of what I do with the Threshold knob. I did ground balance before trying with FASTGRAB. Maybe it requires a careful manual ground balance?? I note that pulling the trigger calms it down considerably. Do you have to hold the trigger in all the while? Pinpointing in Discrimination mode is just pulling the trigger to switch to STAT all metal. Should not be, and the instructions say to pull the ytigger for a depth reading so I guess it is not so.

If I put the sensitivity below 30 it just gave me the raspberry in the headphones. "BRAAAAAAA". Very strange.

Motion All Metal works fine and I get a threshold (of sorts) though it is more a low-repeating-beep-level than a low steady tone/pitch as I had in a long ago detector that had a carrying frequency. threshold.

Might be worth a call to customer support. It wasn't a feature I had a use for so I'm not greatly upset. But now I'm curious and will see if I can't get it figured out eventually.

One....the manual is not written by the engineers so it is possible that there could be a communication gap about the features. In the case of a Threshold tone in Stat All Metal mode, that is exactly what happened. There is no Threshold tone in the Stat mode and the manual is wrong.

Two....when in Stat all metal mode, if you turn down the sens below 30, you invoke a special feature that is designed for salt water beaches. This requires you to click the pinpoint trigger to correct the signal drift occasionally. It is normal and IS in the manual.

Three....when in Motion All metal mode with the sens turned below 30, because of the special feature that is turned on, you will find the F-75 more open to outside interference. It is normal operation and if it gets too noisy, just raise the sens back to 30 and it will quiet right down.

Hope that helps some.

Happy :detecting:

I think the worst part about the F75 is the Manual they sent with it!!
I thought when I read the manual and tried to set a threshold in the stat mode and was unable to that I had a detector that had a problem!!! They better get to work on another manual!!!!

Mike,
I know the manual says to turn the sens down to 30 or below when hunting salt water beaches, but am curious about the "special feature" that is invoked. Could you explain it in more detail?
Thanks and HH
