F75LTD.....Possible Beach Hunt

Going to the beach in a couple of weeks ,thinking about the f75ltd.....I got to manual GB I know I may run all metal cranked up as much as I can, let it rip and dig almost everything.....what you guys think......hh....Dan

I will do the job well. Remember the ground balance has several clicks between numbers. Wet salt may be right around 1 or just under; and a click or two makes a difference. I found you need to stay on top of the ground balance as you moved across the beach to keep depth best and prevent falsing.

Look for the video that markg posted and the write ups tinfoil did a year or more ago on using the F75 at the beach. Those insights all apply to the F75 LTD.

Dan I don't have the F75 but do have the F70 and I ground balance when the sand conditions change. Dry to wet or wet to dry, soft sand to hard, when I have moved some distance or I haven't balanced in some time or when the detector starts to get noisy. The GB changes on the beach often. I can start out with 80 and go to 90 in a short distance even in the same sand conditions it can go from 89 to 91, 92. I just GB often. Don't get goofy about it just kind of get use to GBing. Those are ranges I see in the dry sand areas ... the wet salt water sand is very different with numbers around 1 and then when in the just damp sand the numbers move to maybe 10 or 11 and sometimes upper teens on the ground balance. It must be adjusted in manual mode in this range and you do need to stay on top of the changes. As you transition to the dry sand, it changes rapidly and in a large way.

Thanks tvr. Conditions around the country must be different. I have only detected here in WI. so I have no idea on other parts of country. In fact I have only detected in this counties many parks and 8 different beaches on Lake Michigan. I have never seen 1 or even 10 readings when GBing. I think the lowest I have seen here is 40 to 50 readings. You are right about readings in 80's to 90's in the dry sand. What really surprises me is that just about all the beaches that I have hit with the F70 have those readings in the dry sand. I really don't care about what the reading are. I am just concerned about the change in the last reading to this reading. If it has changed I GB because of reasons stated above in last post.
Another thing Dan be aware of the pocked marked sand. That is the sand that you will find in the volley ball courts. That sand can play havoc on the detector. Just remember to lower sens. and GB and move through it.
I go out to have fun so it is easy for me to detect and talk to some one about the hobby and detect and talk. Sometimes I talk more than I detect. There is always another day to go detecting and I am not going to find it all. So I am not one to try and get the absolute most out of a detector. With the F70 I know I am getting the depth at which I find 95 or more percent of my coins. That is from 1" to 6". Enough!!

The low GB numbers are the wet salt overriding any iron or other conductive mineral in the sand / ground mix. At fresh water beaches, I would not expect to be anywhere but what zeekeys is seeing.

These detectors handle it all pretty well, you just need to stay on top of what the hunting conditions and the feedback from the detector tell you it needs to be set at. And then go find deep targets.

I've been hunting in the wet sand a few weeks ago with my F75 (No LTD). Just did set the GB to just above 0 sense around 60. I was running it in DISC mode with DISC 0. Tone on 2F.

Be aware that things sound different! I found a lot of small nickel coins, that gave a signal in only 1 direction. When digging it out I complete lost the target. Using the pinpoint I could locate the target again.

It was my first time but had a lot of fun. My top find was a small silver coin from 1941.

I also like the 2f tone.....I'm gonna do some experimenting,,,,,,,may make a strap to loop around my neck and shoulder area so not to set the control box end down on the wet sand just the coil end when digging.......hh.....Dan

Dan I rest the detector on my hip and use a long handled scoop to dig the targets. I never put the detector down. I use a wire basket type scoop and not the one with the holes drilled in it. The one with holes drilled in it, it is too hard to shake the sand out of.
