false signal when bumped

I was out today with my mxt and discovered that when I bump my coil against a rock or log it gives a one beep signal and it was getting kind of annoying does this only happen to me or is it common? also is there a remedy. Just so you know I was prospecting with the following settings, relic mode, trigger center, preset gain, disc to 3. any help would be cool thanks

Hey Jessemxt, don't believe your problem is your settings. First, double check your coil connections for tightness. Then remove your skidplate and make sure no debris has gotten between it and the coil. Doesn't take much, water can mess up your ground balance also. When reinstalling the skidplate, try using a little silicone to seal around edge, then tape. Shep

in addition check your cable stress reliever coil,at the box. They have a nasty habit of crawling in to create these periodic shorts.Simply unscrew it away from the box a couple a turns-don't yank on it,might back out too far.Tons a au 2 u 2-John
