Falseing in red clay

I have two sites that I have been working with hard red clay soil. Both sites are old building sites so there are also lots of nails and old iron. I have tried a compadre a xt705 conq umax and my outlaw. The tesoros all give a lot of signals like iron chatter and the xt made almost continuous iron tones. I am not sure weather I am just seeing a lot of iron or if the soil is causing the detector to false? I have not tried a wide scan on the tesoros yet but I did on the xt and had the same results. I am thinking of taking a pi machine out to see if it's really all iron in the ground. I know these are good sites but they are really hard to hunt this way. Wish tesoro made a 5.75 wide sca for umax, thinking of trying the 4".

machineman,

I agree with you and Bleaver on the idea of using a small coil and Bleaver's additional recommendation of LOWERING the Sensitivity. Reducing the amount of data for the detector circuitry to analyze might be the answer !

Good Luck !
