Falsing on Garretts

Junkdigger

New member
Hello, I am a minelab explorer user but have tried a lot of detectors, including Garretts. I had a GTAX750 that I loved but sold it. It worked great, it wasnt quite as deep as a minelab but it was no slouch and it was fun to use and put a lot of finds in the pouch, some of my best finds were made with this machine. I sold mine figuring I could always get another. I then bought a GTAX1200 thinking it would be even better, but no, it falsed all the time and was a pain to use, lowering the sensitivity would ot help. I then bought another 1250 thinking mine was defective, but it was the same. I also tried a Ace 250 that also falses like crazy, I know the standard fix is lowering the sensitivity, but it does not help, Maybe Garrett has raised the output power on the detectors to try to gain depth? I need to get another 750 as it was my second favorite detector of all the machine i have owned and i have used dozens, but they dont make them any more. Does any one else noticed this problem?

I have seven or eight Garretts and don't have that problem. Did you try running the cable straight up the shaft for about a foot and taping or fastening it down. How much did you lower the sensitivity? I run mine at 6 or 6.5 for best performance. Did you scan with the coil at least an inch off the ground. You should have contacted Garrett.

try running in all metal so you can hear what the detector is telling you, when pinpointing a target listen for nice sharp signals as the false signals/ground noise will give a wider softer signal, swing your coil slower so the detector can cope with multiple signals, try moving around to see if the falsing continues.
hope this helps
