Family disappointment....

Sandtick

Active member
Just had my brother really disappoint me today.
He is always eager to please my sisters and his wife's family, but when I ask for a favor he is always hesitant at first. He eventually will help me out, but I feel like I'm putting him out. These aren't huge favors either.
I feel as if I'm an outsider. I love my brother and would do anything for him but I'm not sure he feels the same.
I try to not let it bother me but It makes me feel really really sad, especially today.

Sounds like the two of you need to sit down and have a friendly brother-to-brother chat. Honesty is the best policy and it may be good to air your feelings. If he doesn't know how you feel, everything will continue as it always has. Change - if not now - when? If you're both Christian, pray together before you begin. Food for thought.

Words of wisdom Seniorseeker!

Have you shared this with him? I will pray that God will give you peace in this matter.

No, I haven't shared this with him yet. He is not a Christian either, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. I will be seeing him next week. Hopefully I will have the courage and words to talk to him. I'm not the best talker and can not always get my thoughts out correctly. Things usually end with me un-lodging my foot from my mouth.:bouncy:

The Way to Victory

Although an inward conflict between the flesh and the Spirit always will rage in the heart of every believer, the Christian life does not have to be dominated by defeat, failure, and sin. According to Galatians 5:16-26, what is the key to living a life where the Spirit reigns over the flesh?

Galatians 5:16-26 Walking in the Spirit
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christs have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

God will give you the right words. If you need to write them down.
