Farm Field Hunting With The SE Today...

...with the 12.5" Excelerator coil, manual 25. It was a beautiful day out, if not a little cold. Nice day for so slow row-walking in a BIG bean field. Some pics...

Five wheaties, an 1885 Indian, 18-something Large Cent, 1830's Naval button, a fired 3-ringer mini, and some coin parts.

The LC and the Indian before cleaning...no "before" on the button.

The backmark is "Benedict & Burnham", which a search shows would be 1834 to 1843. Click Here!

The Indian and LC were pretty well smoked, normal for around here. :(

The Indian is 1885, LC is 18??

On the left is anybody's guess...it's a coin, it's BIG, and it's OLD. I could see two "0's" with my loupe. Looks like the plow got it. A FEW times! On the right is 1/4 of a Large Cent.

Yes, good talking to you too. Hopefully we will hunt together before too long, if I can get down there. Or maybe you guys need to come up here...summer tourist season here is pretty hot...lot of bling! :)

Happy Hunting!

Yeah, the copper gets toasted pretty bad. I was hoping for a nice silver coin or two. There's a LOT more field to hit though...I know it's there for me. Need to hit it next weekend ALL DAY. Today I was only out there for about 2 1/2 hours.

Great finds:thumbup:....One of these days, when I can afford it, I'm gonna be back there to do a little reminiscing & hunting...I really miss being in the area back there...Out here you can't get a decent barbecue sandwitch lol...The pics from Va. beach really get my attention...(they bring back a lot of memories & it doesn't look like it's changed too much) I really miss the past...Some of my best memories are from back there...I'm not sure if this is the place... But if anybody back in Va. knows Freddie Deans..Wish him Well..He's a good guy and the first person I ever detected with back in 75...Hey Freddie if you're reading this....I miss you all & hope life is going good for everybody....Wish you & the rest of the family well...TT

Finding a Large Cent is one on my list and to get an old Button from that far back is just a fantastic added bonus. Too bad the Large Cent and the Indian Head are Toast! Guess you just have to take them any way you can find them. Hope you find many more interesting finds at that Bean Field and Good Luck and HH Mike!:detecting::thumbup:

You did well in that field, Mike. NICE Naval button, that should make up for those crispy LC's. Never saw a 1/4 LC before, I saw one chopped in half. Good luck next weekend in your Field of Beans. Ron

sitting here. I have both the 4 x 7 excelerator and I also picked up the 8" concentric excelerator coil for my SE. Haven't got to try either...but they sure do look cool.....just sitting there.
