Farm Field Hunting With The SE

Hit a well-hunted farm field today. Had the 12.5" Hothead coil on there...sensitivity cranked to 26 and 28, low and slow sweep. Beautiful day to be hunting. Got a nice Indian, 3 minnieballs, and 2 musketballs.

I have a cover for it but I only use it if there's the chance of rain. I just keep dirt away from the screen and never wipe it in the field, only blow off any dirt that gets on it. And I wipe the whole thing down after each use. I'll probably never want to sell it but you never know. Pays to keep 'em nice.

No...the 03-23 was for the bullet. And that one was very deep and the signal was somewhat low in my general experience. The big coil tends to hit low on the numbers a LITTLE, but other things are consistent...like quarters, etc. I think I believe that in general the digital numbers on the SE are lower than the II. I attribute that to a little better "granularity" in the ID on the SE. I've observed it repeatedly with my SE over what I came to expect from the II.

I need to get out and find some more minnies soon. Jeff

Nope, still haven't got it yet. Sure wish it would come. Apparently they are on backorder and some "redeployed" Russian rocket scientists are the ones building them. I'm thinking somebody needs to hide the key to the vodka cabinet, huh?

Heh...well, I never touch the screen during hunting...only blow off any dirt in the field. Don't want to scratch it, you know. And I do wipe it down after each hunt. I will probably never want to sell it, but I figured the same about the Explorer II, so you never know. I try to keep it nice because I have a 4 year warranty and I want it to last. My CZ-70 has a lifetime warranty so I'm REALLY anal about that one. But it's no wallflower, mind you...it gets rode hard and put up...well, CLEAN...but well-used.

It's like my 1991 Mustang LX 5.0. I bought it brand new. I started modding it before it had 1000 miles on it. It's been to the track and run down the quarter a dozen times. It's been run up to tire-chirping redline shifts more times than I can count. And driven on MANY a trip as well and used as a daily driver for over a decade. But it still looks and runs GREAT. It has 227,000 miles on it. The engine has not been rebuilt. It will make 60 in about the time it takes to say holy shit! :) It's only ever had Amsoil synthetic fluids in it and although I BEAT IT MERCILESSLY, I also baby it. Kind of a love-hate relationship...I love it and then I treat it like I hate it.

This picture was taken on the ocassion of hitting the 200,000 mile mark.

Here it is at about 215,000 miles...
