Fasling with all coils!

Ive been having trouble with my SE falsing a lot. I thought it was my joey coil, then went back to stock coil now it's doing it. I keep cracking down Sensitivity all the way down to 10 last night, there was some little roots about the size of hair on a horse tall, ever time I would rub over these it would give a false signal, I still found a couple of pennies 1917D and 1919 S at about 8 " deep. But this falsing is getting worse now, I thought some one might have a answer. I did check my coil cover a couple of times and cleaned it, it was really sandy in this lot, they had scraped it and getting ready to asphalt this weekend. It's getting to the point even a blade of grass will cause it to false on me. Any body got any ideals on this problem! I would like to hear them. Thank You

If those contacts get corroded you can spray on some contact cleaner. Also if you have an X1 probe those connections need to be checked. One big problem I had was I twisted the wires inside the X1 box by screwing the connections on with the inside nut not being tight enough to hold it still. Thus the guts were moving at the same time I was screwing on the connector. Hope nothing is serious with your machine and if so, hope you're under warranty!

Try rebooting... that sometimes clears it up. Ive checked many of my deep finds and almost always can get the same sound when on auto sensitivity. Sometimes its just the soi or EMI and how open your sensitivity is.... but on a smaller coil you should be able to run that up pretty high. I have to say thou the ML's do like to false when brushed along the ground because of the DD it catches alot. I still say the slimlines are NOT as good as regular or rechargeable batteries... for me they then to create noise after some use... say at half used.

I was having trouble with two AM antennaes and I turned down the sense to 15. across town I can run 30.
Where I was it effected the coil as if the ground was too hot. I've hear of cell phones causing problems too.

I got a X 1 probe I will try cleaning the connections up and maybe even bypass the x1, it falses on the tiniest grass and roots on grass, at the beach it will do it in the sand, I have tried it in a couple different places, man I got my socks blow off by a F70 the other night I was embarrassed, I know I was getting deeper than the F 70 but he know what he was doing and I am still trying to get a handle on this SE. Boy did I let down the Minelab name. :( I want to say Thanks for the help guys, This forms is great read all these great finds hear what other people are saying, I am pretty sure I am the only hunter is this area with a Explorer, Well thanks Neal , Dew and theBeatmachine for the ideals and help.

I dont know how you swing, but ive found PUSHING the coil along as apposed to a fast swing works pretty good and the Explorer really hears everything when you slow down. When you first start with the Explorer you finds will be in the toilet... just remember that, but with experience they will greatly improve.
