Feb Goldfields hunt:detecting:

Gidday all. Had a couple of days off from work, house work, etc and hit the goldfields. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny with a slight breeze that rustled through the trees on old building sites. Lots of bird life of the feathered kind, a huge goanna and lots of March flies. Fortunately I had my tropical strength Aeroguard with me!
I had such a great time hunting for relics and the ground easily coughed them up for my trusty Quattro. Most targets were buried b/w 6 & 8 inches deep, a few a little deeper. The ground here in these photos is like concrete, hard and compact, so I had to make doubley sure I came at signals from all angles in case a coin was buried on end, like they do sometimes. All up, found 3 coins, 1 medalion which I thought was an interesting find, and other bits and pieces. I didn't post any of the junk I'd found while hunting but believe me, there was plenty of that too, iron rubbish like roofing nails, corroded cauldrons and tools, and rusty building materials.
I've been working these sites for a few years now, and each time I find more stuff going over the same ground.
My settings for the hunt over the two days were: High Trash, All Metal Mode, (No discrimination), sensitivity set to 16 throughout the hunt, and believe it or not, I used my 10.5 inch coil. I brought the smaller coil with me, but I found that hunting with the larger coil gave me a little better depth, besides I've had plenty of practice and am confident using it in trashy ground, if the ground is even and fairly flat, particularly on the old bridle tracks, where there aren't too many sticks and twigs to bang the coil on as I sweep.
Anyway, hope the photos give a nice indication of what a great place the Aussie bush can be to hunt in!!!
