Federal land closure

New member
I just read an article by a person living in Baker county Oregon, that our president is considering closing down all federal land to anyone. Is this for real or just a rumor. anyone with info about this please post, It would be a tragedy for all if this was true!!

I guess no one cares if they shut down BLM and National forest to prospectors. can not believe no one has an opinion or info on this subject!!!

There are lots of opinions, conspiracy theories, facts and fiction spread around on the Internet and elsewhere. It is really hard to know what is on the President's mind
or anyone else's for that matter but there are many environmental groups that are in favor of land closure, and other examples of wanting things done their way.
There have been closures of lots of government land, roads, national forests and all kinds of restrictive laws on tobacco, vitamins, drugs, behavior etc.
I am not aware of any such new law in Congress, but as these bills come up for discussion and votes, be assured many will rise up against them. An example is gun
rights, every time they come up for discussion, some representatives are voted out of office.
So to answer your question, I don't see any closure such as you mention being worked on, but if you can find the article and post it we will all go to work.

I was just on the Blm site and there was no report of a pending land closure in Southern Oregon. There has been a lot of rumors as the public in the Southern part of the state are already upset at some areas closed for mining. This should start to come to a head soon as this area has already denied a tax increase as the public feels that all Government does is pass more bad and useless laws.

First it must exist in the real world to have pertinent information to base any position upon. Jus' blue sky and bs so far as internet misinformation is indeed the mother of misdirection -John

Thank you for your responses, Im not trying to cause any rumors, I love my country and was just upset about the rumor I read and feel that we are like David trying to fight a Goliath, that cares little for the average Joe. I will go back to town and try to get the article I read, and post it. Thanks again for your intelligent response. Joseph

Here is a site I try to keep an eye on. These people are dead set on the preservation of our hobby.

The GPAA has constantly written about this in their periodic newspaper that comes with membership. It is going on all over now. They are not just after gold miners or hobbyists but are actually closing old single path roads to stop vehicles from entering the lands.

Here in Colorado, I found several single path roads have been closed this year.
Inch by inch, one boulder at a time.
