few hours at OC, a little silver

Son wanted to surf the waves from Bill before going back to college and I wanted to see if some sand got moved. Tide was supposed to be a low -0.4 on Saturday afternoon but the wave prediction was just too much. Went this morning (Sunday), fairly big waves breaking a little bit ugly, but surfable. Saw three swimmer rescues, ya got to be careful and stay within your limits.

From the inlet up to about 10th street found some cuts about a foot deep but many areas did not look cut at all. Did not see a lot of additional target hits in the cut areas, but found very little trash today.

Took the CZ6a with the FZ-12 coil and the Sand Shark with the 10.5 round coil.

Spent about 3.5 hours with the CZ. It was nailing quarters and dimes in the lane. Couple of tabs but not a single nickle.

As tide was heading towards low and wave height was shrinking, switched to the Sand Shark for about 1.5 hours. Ran in the lane and up to waste deep troughs as the wave would then be head high, and that was enough for me. Picked up some nickles, couple more dimes and quarters and a silver bracelet. Bracelet had that double hit sound just like a hair pin ... but that's why we dig them! When I got home I tried the bracelet sitting on the ground. CZ6a didn't hit it, nor did the CZ20. Sand Shark was loud and clear. Didn't try the other detectors (it's getting late).

Talked to a couple fellow hunters and not much in the way of jewelry. One nice gold ring turned up early in the week along this section of beach, but none today from those who I talked with.

Cheers,

Here's the nut:

Nice lode tvr, sometimes a hurricane can fill, instead of strip sand. Might take a couple of tidal cycles to thin it out, then it may be better conditions.
