If you can, get to a beach, it will teach you a lot in a hurry about signals, get a sandscoop and dig everything. You will learn right quick about what is what. It just takes a little time to train your ears about signals, and even then you will get fooled a time or two, so the faster you can get plenty of signals dug and Identified and remembered, the better you will get on your F5...you may still get discouraged, pulltabs and pennys and all, but if you stay at it hard, you will find some gold sooner or later. Weird signals can be stacks of coins, or tight spills, or just junk, you really wont know until you dig them and learn from that experience, we cant tell you for certain, just in generalities. A solid repeatable signal of the right tone and size is ALMOST a sure thing, but not always...one thing is for sure, this forum will make your life a lot easier in the learning process, but you still gotta go out and swing as much as possible. I never even bother to ground balance half the time anyway! I'm excited for you, and hope to see some good things from you this year, you got what Mike says is the best machine for inland jewelry hunting, and I dont doubt him on that! A poster called "Crusher" swings an F5 too, look up his posts...Good Luck!
