Was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is and how old ?I believe from the research i done it’s some kind of Reins holder I found it in a farm field I have a permission on that was a homestead from the mid to late 1800’s.Thank You

I believe you are correct… looks like one to me… not sure of the age, but given the age of the site, that is a good indicator.
I think it is actually called a reigns guide.

Yes that’s a horse reigns tie up holder,farmers use to bolt them up on thier wagons so the horse or mule wouldn’t run off,they come in different shapes,I found one that had the round loop,Great find.
